Corneal Transplantation
A corneal transplant replaces damaged or diseased cornea with healthy donor tissue to restore vision, reduce pain, and improve appearance.
Types of Corneal Transplants:
Penetrating Keratoplasty (PK)
Complete replacement of entire corneal thickness
DALK (Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty)
Preserves healthy inner corneal layers
DSEK / DMEK
Selective replacement of damaged endothelial layers
When Transplants Are Necessary:
- Severe corneal scarring
- Advanced keratoconus
- Fuchs' endothelial dystrophy
- Failed previous corneal surgeries
Safety First
All donor tissue undergoes strict medical testing to rule out infections and communicable diseases like HIV, hepatitis, or syphilis.
